Where performance meets textile engineering
The fabric construction is the foundation of every functional textile. It must be engineered to deliver specific performance characteristics — tensile strength for durability, stretch for comfort, breathability for moisture management, and dimensional stability for long-term reliability. At Seekingtex, our Fabric Engineering & Development lab combines advanced CAD-based fabric design, structural analysis, and decades of textile engineering experience to deliver fabrics that are optimized for their intended application — not generic constructions adapted from a catalogue.
We work with three primary fabric construction types — woven, knitted, and non-woven — and have the engineering capability to design, simulate, and validate each one in-house.

Our engineering workflow
Every fabric construction, whether it is a standard product or a fully custom development, follows a rigorous five-stage process:
- Concept & requirements gathering — We meet with you to define performance targets, end-use environment, regulatory requirements, and any special finishing needs (UPF, water repellency, antimicrobial).
- Fabric construction design — The fabric structure is modeled in CAD software and checked for cover factor, crimp ratio, areal density, and mechanical properties using built-in analysis tools.
- Structural FEA — Load cases are defined: tensile (warp/weft), tear (trapezoid/tongue), and burst (diaphragm). Stress distribution is reviewed; safety factor minimum 2.5 is mandatory.
- Coating & laminate optimization — The coating or laminate stack is simulated for adhesion, flexibility, and barrier performance. Parameters are iteratively optimized.
- Design review & release — The complete engineering package (construction design, FEA report, coating specification, weight estimate, finishing recipe) is reviewed by our senior textile engineer before release to sampling.

Customization: your fabric, your rules
No two applications have identical requirements. An outdoor performance fabric needs high UPF and water repellency; a medical textile needs breathability and antimicrobial properties; an industrial fabric needs abrasion resistance and dimensional stability. We do not force your application into a pre-existing fabric construction. We design from your specification upward.
Examples of recent custom fabric engineering projects:
- A high-tenacity polyester woven fabric for outdoor upholstery, with reinforced weft for enhanced tear strength (+15 % tear resistance).
- A lightweight nylon ripstop for performance outerwear, with integrated breathable coating and DWR finish.
- A stretch-knit polyester/spandex blend for activewear, engineered for 4-way stretch with moisture-wicking and antimicrobial finish.
Our engineers
The studio is led by a senior textile engineer with 14 years of experience in technical fabric design, supported by two mechanical engineers specialized in FEA and textile mechanics. All three hold advanced degrees in textile engineering or materials science from internationally recognized universities. The team publishes regularly in industry journals and presents at conferences such as the International Conference on Textile Engineering and the AATCC Symposium.
